YCX #4

YCX DATELINE HOUSTON 9-23-2009 – After a week off to dispute territorial issues with the natives, the YettiNation returned in force to brave the ensuing cross conditions that threatened the Houston area. The territorial disputes resulted in some entertaining course alignments that had the YettiNation aroused in glee that cooler temps prevailed so they would not blow a gasket. The ominous climb loomed as the racers readied their trusty steeds to do cyclocross battle on the grassy fields overlooked by the downtown skyline.

The Junior group continues to be dominated by Audrey Manchester riding against her hard fighting competitor Max Molthen.

Catherine Moritz .battled the terrain to keep Julia Jenkins at bay in the Women’s group. Julia had some indecisive moments at the barriers but was able to regroup and continue chasing Catherine.

Nathan Winkleman put the gears to YettiCross’s own Single Speed Mitch Comardo. Mitch was reported to run out of teeth on the finish hard pack to drop just out of the money. Newcomer Bobby Williams chased Wink through the slop with Conner Courtland finishing out the podium positions. Kevin Koen was knocked from his thrown with an early sleepy bike incident where he battled back though the race only to have a rolled tire force him to running the last part of the finish lap.

Brian Darby powered through the newly created muck hole to deliver an outstanding race keeping the rest of the B’s on their toes. The newly created run up kept Scott Minard busy fending off Michael Ereli for the second spot on the “podium”.

Wayne Burton kept the heat on throughout the race to take the top spot from William Krause. Charles Huckabee moved up this week showing off his descending skills but was not able to chase down Charles.
